The OASIS Food Pantry at 1814 Boone's Lick Road in St. Charles planned to close Saturday due to a collapsed sewer line and a supply water leak.

Executive Director Terry Rodewald said he expected the food pantry to be closed until June 30. Both problems are under asphalt and will be expensive and time-consuming to locate and repair, he said.

"We are not sure if we can afford these repairs," Rodewald said. "If any company doing this type of repairs would please call to help us, the community we serve would definitely appreciate this assistance. There is a state tax credit program that will return 50 percent of any donation plus a federal tax deduction for the full amount. Under these two tax helps a person or company can recoup up to 84 percent of their donation and OASIS would pay the rest."The sooner we can get reopened, the sooner the 350 families in our community can get free food and hygiene each month," Rodewald added.
