HBA COMMENTARY: Builders bring Home & Garden Show to St. Charles
The 4th Annual Builders St. Charles Home Show is scheduled for April 11-13 at the St. Charles Convention Center. This year, show admission is free. See the same quality exhibits and exciting features, and save yourself a few bucks in the process.The St. Charles Convention Center is conveniently located just off Interstate 70 at Fifth Street in St. Charles. The state-of-the-art facility is an ideal venue with 60,000 square feet of exhibit space and 1,100 free parking spaces. The show will include approximately 300 booths from 165 quality companies. The Builders St. Charles Home Show is a one-stop source for information, products and services for the home. Windows, doors, kitchen and bath products, pools and spas, home accessories and much more - plus national and local speakers will present seminars filled with information and ideas to improve your home life. Visit the Better Living Theater to see entertaining, informative presentations by Dr. Lori. She is an art historian and certified fine art and antiques appraiser who reveals insider tips about art, antiques, museums and auctions while telling you what your antiques are worth. Appraisals are free of charge and will take place as part of Dr. Lori's presentations. There is a limit of one appraisal per person. Appraisals will be done on a first-come, first-served basis. Dr. Lori can appraise from a photograph. Jeff Holper, "The Mole Hunter," will help audiences rid their yards of moles and other pesky creatures with his seminar, "I Want to Be a Mole Killer." A new group of four-legged models will be back this year wearing the latest canine fashions in the St. Charles Humane Society Doggie Fashion Show at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The St. Charles Humane Society will offer dog adoptions each day of the show. Don't miss the 2nd Annual St. Charles Sausage Festival and Wine Tasting, a huge hit at last year's show. This special feature area of the show, located just off the main lobby, will have free tasting from local sausage producers, wineries and wine distributors. Davis Meat Processing, Swiss Meat & Sausage Co. and Williams Brothers Meat Co. will offer tastings of summer sausages, snack sticks, smoked link sausages and bratwursts, as well as specialty sausages like cheddar, apple and andouillette sausage. Show visitors also can taste wines from Crown Valley Winery in Ste. Genevieve, and wines from around the world brought to the show by PRP Wine International. Habitat for Humanity of St. Charles County, a local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, recently opened a retail store in St. Peters. The Habitat for Humanity ReStore carries new and used home improvement merchandise offered to the public at deeply discounted prices. The funds generated from the Habitat ReStore will allow Habitat for Humanity of St. Charles County to further its mission in providing simple and decent affordable housing to those in need within St. Charles County. They will be bringing a mini Habitat ReStore to the show, so visitors can shop for great deals on home improvement items. Bring the kids to the show for family fun. Kids will love balloon-twisting Sammy J, who will create amazing balloon sculptures for no charge.
