Citigroup is cutting 4,200 jobs worldwide.

Shannon Bell, a company spokeswoman, said the majority of cuts would come from investment banking.

"The 4,200 is a global number," Bell said. This is the company's second deep job cut in less than a year; in April, Citigroup cut 17,000 jobs.

The company employs 375,000 people throughout the world. About 4,000 of those jobs are in O'Fallon.

Meg Shuff, director of corporate communications for CitiMortgage in O'Fallon, said she was unable to comment on the cuts or if they would have an impact on local jobs.
